Transformer substations include a prefabricated station control building. This control building is a modular housing made of metal framework and lightweight profiled galvanized metal panels with thermal insulation.
The control building is designed to house rooms for panels of relay protection, control and signalling, communications and remote control as well as rooms equipped for work and rest of the field and maintenance staff.
All rooms are equipped with lighting, heating and ventilation, and for hot climate countries they are equipped with air conditioning. When there are no attendants in the cold seasons inside the control unit, the temperature is automatically maintained not lower than +5 °C.
